Service Description

Introduction to Safeguarding Overview This training provides a clear introduction to safeguarding and the responsibilities professionals have in protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults from harm. It is designed for staff, volunteers, and practitioners working in social, educational, community, or support settings. The course outlines the core principles of safeguarding and supports participants to recognise when an individual may be at risk. It covers key forms of abuse and harm, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, neglect, and exploitation. A strong focus is placed on appropriate responses to concerns. Participants will learn how to respond safely to disclosures, record information accurately, and report concerns in line with organisational procedures. The training also explores safeguarding policies, professional boundaries, and best practice when working with vulnerable individuals. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of their role in safeguarding and how to act to protect those at risk. Learning Outcomes By the end of the training, participants will be able to: - Explain the purpose and importance of safeguarding - Understand key principles, including duty of care and early intervention - Recognise different forms of abuse and harm - Identify signs and indicators of safeguarding concerns - Respond appropriately to disclosures - Understand how and when to report concerns - Record safeguarding information clearly and professionally - Understand safeguarding policies and procedures - Maintain appropriate professional boundaries - Access further support and guidance to strengthen practice Facilitator The session is delivered by an experienced psychosocial practitioner with over a decade of frontline work supporting vulnerable children and young people. With a strong academic background in psychology and psychosocial intervention, they combine evidence-based knowledge with extensive real-world experience. Having worked across diverse communities, including London and the Midlands, they bring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by both young people and the professionals who support them. Their approach bridges theory and practice, ensuring the training is both academically grounded and highly practical for everyday professional use.
